These are a few tips to help prevent attacks, feel free to email me of any that you think to be important which are not on here!
1) Look behind you when you walk every 10 seconds or so. No matter where you are at, whether it's a dangerous part of town or one you are familiar with for years you never know when someone may be hiding and watching for the opportunity to harm you.
2) Keep your wallet in a different pocket than you are used to. What this does is it keeps you aware of your wallet constantly instead of in one you are used to, and in crowds put it in your front pocket.
3) Keep your purses zipped up all the time. Don't leave anything hanging outside of it you don't want stolen! Also keep them clenched tightly or across the opposite shoulder. This needs little explanation: thieves can run right by and snatch your purse.
4) Show confidence when you walk, good posture and strike your heels to the ground (this sound promotes self-confidence). Someone will more likely attack you if they perceive you to be afraid or timid.
5) If you are approached, don't be a hero. If all they want is money, or your car, go ahead and let them have it. That's why we have insurance and they can be replaced. But, a word of warning: That may not stop them from taking your life and your children. Just something to consider in learning self defense from someone.
6) I saved the best for last: it's always good to pray and ask God for safety and wisdom in every situation!
Make sure what you are learning is going to work. Ask your friends to throw some punches, kicks or other attacks which are unplanned. Then and only then will you know if what you have learned will work. And on top of that, don't hit them, real defense does not require offense. Offense should only be used to when you are intending on damaging or destroying the other person.
